DSE英文Paper 1 閱讀卷其中一個高階閱讀策略是要找出文中的對比思想（Contrasting Idea）。同學需要詳閱內文，找出矛與盾（如物體、人物、思想、概念等）並重新整合成完整句式。在課堂中，Snapask 英文導師Nicola Lok會教授兩大種對比思想（Subject-by-Subject Contrast 和 Point-by-Point Contrast），當中包括不同題型的例子。

📌DSE英文閱讀題型 | Contrasting Idea 對比思想｜Subject-by-Subject Contrast

A contrast can be organized in different ways. For subject-by-subject contrast, the writer thoroughly describes the first subject and then describes the second, pointing out the differences. Sometimes, the difference of a subject is not mentioned, as it lies in the presence of the opposite. In this practice, we will look into two types — T/F/NG and Implication questions!

• MUST-KNOW ABOUT SUGGESTING QUESTION / IMPLICATION QUESTION

If you are asked “what does [a particular phrase] suggest about [a subject]”, you can…
✦Find out the literal meaning
✦See if there is a “comparable idea” or cue words
✦Figure out the relationship between the phrase and the subject’s feature

If you are asked the metaphorical question, you need to find out what is being compared and how they are linked.
